West Bromwich Albion are reportedly keen on Newcastle striker Aleksandar Mitrovic.

According to the Daily Mail, West Bromwich Albion are interested in signing Newcastle United striker Aleksandar Mitrovic during the upcoming January transfer window.

Having emerged as a young talent in his native Serbia with Partizan Belgrade, scoring 18 goals in 42 games, Mitrovic landed a move to Belgium with Anderlecht in 2013.

Newcastle saw enough of the burly striker in Belgium to take a chance on him in the Premier League in 2015, having seen him hit 44 goals in 90 games for Anderlecht – but his time in England has been something of a rollercoaster.

Mitrovic’s disciplinary problems were exposed in his first Premier League campaign, but he did notch nine goals before completely falling out of favour under Rafael Benitez.

After scoring just four times in the Magpies’ promotion-winning campaign last season, Mitrovic has been limited to just six substitute appearances in the Premier League this term, slipping behind Joselu and Dwight Gayle in the pecking order.

Now, with a January exit seemingly on the cards, the Daily Mail report that West Bromwich Albion are keen to sign Mitrovic, with manager Alan Pardew keen to raid his former club.

The Baggies are struggling for goals right now, and with Salomon Rondon needing some support in attack, another centre forward like Mitrovic could be a useful weapon for Pardew.

It’s unclear just how much Newcastle would want for Mitrovic, especially when he’d be heading to a rival in the battle against relegation, but with no future under Benitez, Newcastle look set to cash in one way or another.
