A report claims that Nottingham Forest fans might get their wish as early as next month.
According to The Mirror, Nottingham Forest are set to be taken over by a Greek consortium some time in June.
The report suggests that current owner Fawaz Al-Hasawi has grown tired of criticism of him from Forest supporters, and will go ahead with plans to sell the Championship club.
In March, Al-Hasawi said that he would consider selling the Reds (BBC), days after sacking Dougie Freedman, who was the eighth manager to work under the Kuwaiti businessman since taking over four years ago.
His trigger-happy nature with regard to managers has seen criticism levelled at him from some sections of the Nottingham Forest fanbase, which is one of his reasons to call it a day at the City Ground, according to The Mirror.
It goes on to suggest that the Greek consortium is spearheaded by Olympiacos owner Evangelos Marinakis, whose group are keen to purchase up to 80 percent of the Championship side.
As well as being Champions League regulars, the Greek giants have won five successive league titles since the 48-year-old took over in 2010.
Back at Forest, the search goes on for a new manager, with Paul Williams leaving the club after taking charge on an interim basis following the dismissal of Freedman.
The Reds finished 16th in England’s second tier this past season, 15 points clear of relegation but 19 shy of a playoff spot.
