Tottenham Hotspur defender Juan Foyth is linked with an exit.

Ajax are targeting a move for Tottenham Hotspur defender Juan Foyth.

Dutch website Voetball Primeur report via Radio La Red that Foyth is a target for Ajax as their planned move for Boca Juniors’ Lisandro Magallan drags on without resolution.

Ajax would want a loan deal for Foyth, accepting that Tottenham would not sell the Argentine after just one season.

Only a back-up option at this stage for Ajax, Spurs do not yet have to make a decision on the former Estudiantes centre-back.

Foyth played in cup competitions last season and earned praise from Mauricio Pochettino, but did not start a Premier League game.

Spurs may be more reluctant to let him leave if they end up selling Toby Alderweireld .

Football London reported last week that Tottenham had given up on their attempts to sign Mattijs de Ligt.

Loaning Foyth to Ajax could re-open that door.

There is no suggestion Ajax are looking to sell him, but their desire to sign another centre-back shows their intent to strengthen their options at the position.

Spurs letting Foyth join may not help them this summer, but it will help smooth relations with Ajax and show business is not all ‘one way’, helping to keep a line of communication open and lay the groundwork for a future De Ligt transfer.
