Ajax are reportedly plotting to sign Sevilla attacker Lucas Ocampos as a replacement for Antony, with West Ham and Wolves also rumoured to be interested in the La Liga forward.

According to Marca, the Dutch giants are working quick behind the scenes to find a quality successor for Antony, who this weekend agreed an £85m move to Manchester United in one of the biggest deals of the summer transfer window, with Ajax now eyeing Ocampos.

Despite having a reported £60m release clause, Sevilla are open to selling Ocampos this summer for €25m (£20m) with the winger seemingly not part of the club’s long-term vision, and for Ajax, they could now land a steal in the Argentine if they can beat the likes of West Ham and Wolves to the attacker’s signature.

However, with David Moyes’ side going big in the market this summer with the likes of Gianluca Scammaca and more recently Lucas Paqueta, West Ham are seemingly done with the market, whilst Wolves are also working on a deal to sign Sasa Kalajdzic, meaning Ajax could be in the clear to land Ocampos.

With the 28-year-old bagging nine goals and six assists last season for Sevilla in all competitions, a move to the Eredivisie with Ajax could be a great move for Ocampos, who could experience real success in his career as well as play regular football at a club in the UEFA Champions League group stage.

Indeed, with Ajax recouping as much as £150m this summer in transfer fees, the Dutch side are essentially free to sign who they want to replace Antony, yet Ocampos could be a wise choice for Alfred Schreuder given the Argentine’s age and profile.

Replacing Antony will be no easy feat for Ajax, but with Ocampos a similar player to the Manchester-bound superstar and the likes of West Ham and Wolves easing their interest on the Argentine, the Amsterdam giants could easily wrap up a deal to sign the winger, who could become a revelation in the Netherlands.

After all, Ocampos is coming off a great year with Ajax with the former Olympique Marseille star also hitting the peak of his career, and for Ajax, the winger will slot in perfectly to replace Antony, who has essentially funded the club’s move for the Sevilla star this summer.
