Ajax have left Crystal Palace target Kenny Tete out of their pre-season training camp so he can talk to clubs about a move away from the Netherlands.

Crystal Palace were dealt a blow in the transfer market on Tuesday (July 4) as defensive target Joel Veltman signed a new contract with current club Ajax.

Dutch publication, Algemeen Dagblad, reported that Veltman had agreed verbally with the Eredivisie giants to extend his deal – which was due to expire in 2018 – until 2020.

However, the 25-year-old’s commitment to Ajax could actually give Palace hope in their pursuit of another defender at the Amsterdam Arena.

The Guardian reports that Kenny Tete is on the Eagles’ radar and has been left out of a pre-season training camp so he can talk to clubs about a prospective move.

Olympique Lyon are another side believed to be interested in signing Tete, but new Palace manager Frank de Boer will be hoping his presence at Selhurst Park will be enough to lure the 21-year-old to the Premier League.

De Boer is yet to make any permanent signings since taking charge at the South London club, but that is expected to change in the near future.
