The Spaniard is reportedly interested in replacing Garry Monk at Leeds United.

The Telegraph has reported that Aitor Karanka is interested in replacing Garry Monk at Leeds United.
United remain without a manager following Monk’s shock resignation last month.
According to Sky Sports, the 38-year-old is set to be named as Middlesbrough manager today, succeeding Karanka following the Spaniard’s dismissal after Boro were relegated from the Premier League last season.

Plenty of names have been linked to the vacant Leeds job, with Alan Pardew currently 5/4 to be appointed (via Sky Bet) but The Telegraph reported on Friday that Karanka “would like” the job at Elland Road.
The former Real Madrid assistant manager led Middlesbrough into the Premier League in the 2015-16 campaign, and previous with regards to promotion should stand him in good stead.

Leeds could and probably should have at least secured a playoff spot under Monk this past season, but an abject run of one win in eight Championship outings toward the end of the campaign scuppered their chances as the Yorkshire giants finished seventh.
Should Karanka get the job then the Whites’ fanbase will be dreaming of promotion back to the top tier next season.
The standard of football is unlikely to be overly exciting, but the 43-year-old – whose Middlesbrough side conceded eight goals at home all season when they went up – gets results and that, at the end of the day, is more important.
