According to The Mirror, Nottingham Forest boss Aitor Karanka is interested in bringing Patrick Bamford or Nelson Oliveira back to the City Ground this summer.

Forest are in the market for new signings this summer, and have already splashed the cash to sign midfielder Joao Carvalho from Benfica, paying more than £13million for him and then signing teammate Diogo Goncalves on loan, as reported by BBC Sport.

After another bottom half finish, Forest will be looking to push on into the top half of the Championship next season, but manager Aitor Karanka will be keen to bring a goalscorer to spearhead his attack.

The Mirror report that Bournemouth hitman Lewis Grabban is a top target for Forest, but Karanka is also considering two former Forest strikers in Patrick Bamford and Nelson Oliveira.

Bamford, 24, came up through the ranks with Forest having joined the club back in 2001, but left for Chelsea in 2012 after making just two first-team appearance for Forest.

Now with Middlesbrough, where he scored 13 goals last season, Bamford could reunite with Karanka having worked together with Boro during the 2014-15 campaign, though it’s unclear how much Forest would need to pay for him.

After signing Carvalho and Goncalves, links to another Portuguese talent are far from a surprise, and Norwich City striker Oliviera is the latest, with the 26-year-old expected to leave the club this summer.

Oliveira scored nine goals in 29 games for Forest during the 2015-16 season having joined on loan, and could now make a shock return to the City Ground as Karanka seemingly targets two ex-Forest attackers.
