Everton could face competition from Inter Milan and Juventus to sign Manchester United midfielder Donny van de Beek in the January transfer window, according to Calciomercato.

Van de Beek is keen to leave Old Trafford in the mid-season market, having cut a peripheral role this term. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has only fielded the 24-year-old for 141-minutes across all competitions, with three appearances so far.

He has also only played six-minutes in the Premier League, as his plight continued from last season’s 511-minute return. Van de Beek is seemingly loath to let his situation continue, as his agent, Guido Albers, is working to secure a winter transfer for the Dutch international.

Albers has offered Van de Beek to Inter Milan, as the Nerazzurri plot midfield signings for manager Simone Inzaghi. The San Siro boss is desperate for a back-up – or an eventual replacement – for Marcelo Brozovic, who could leave at the end of his contract next June.

Chairman Giuseppe Marotta has assured Inzaghi they will strengthen in the winter, with Sports Director Piero Ausilio already sourcing targets. The Serie A giants are now weighing up whether to target Van de Beek, who Albers also offered to Juventus.

Everton will likely be frustrated to see Albers touting Van de Beek’s services to Inter Milan and Juventus, with the Toffees also interested in the Manchester United outcast. Corriere dello Sport report the Merseysiders remain keen after failing to sign him this summer.

Should Everton revive Van de Beek interest amid agent efforts to seal transfer?

Albers may frustrate Everton by touting Van de Beek to Juventus and Inter Milan, but his work to secure a transfer away from Manchester United also helps the Blues in any pursuit.

Toffees Director of Football Marcel Brands recently refused to rule out making another bid in the mid-season market. The Everton chief confirmed to NOS he spoke with Manchester United over their £40m playmaker. Only for Solskjaer to deny him a deal at the last.

“We had him on our list,” Brands explained. “At the beginning of the transfer window, we inquired at United, then it was impossible. At the end of the window, I received a call from Guido Albers, his agent, that he might be rented out after all. But at the last minute it was cancelled, stopped again.”

He added: “You always depend on whether a club wants to cooperate. And it is early October, so much can still happen with injuries. United are playing on various fronts, it’s hard to say now.”
