Serge Aurier’s representatives have informed Tottenham Hotspur of his desire to leave the Premier League side this summer with AC Milan back in for a long-term transfer target, as reported by Calciomercato.

It seems that both club and player are on the same page here.

Earlier this week, RMC Sport claimed that Spurs will not stand in Aurier’s way if they receive a bid in the region of £9 million. And, if reports from Italy are to be believed, the former PSG right-back will not be too disappointed to learn that he is no longer needed in North London.

Aurier’s agents have made it clear that the Ivory Coast international wants to bring an end to four largely erratic years in Lilywhite.

That £9 million price-tag, meanwhile, is a reflection of the fact that Aurier’s £70,000-a-week contract is due to expire in 2022.

Italian giants AC Milan tried to sign the 28-year-old last year, only for the talks to fall apart after they failed to find a buyer for Andrea Conti.

Rossoneri directors Frederic Massara and Paolo Maldini have not given up on Aurier, however, and are likely to make a move again; especially with Diogo Dalot returning to Old Trafford following an underwhelming loan spell from Manchester United.

Ironically enough, Aurier produced one of the finest performances of his Tottenham career last time out, assisting two-thirds of Gareth Bale’s hat-trick in the 4-0 thrashing of relegated Sheffield United.

If Milan do manage to get a £9 million deal over the line, this will mean Tottenham have taken a £14 million loss on a player they paid a pretty penny for in 2017.
