Max Meyer is set to leave Schalke this summer, with Liverpool and Tottenham reportedly interested.

The 22-year-old is set to leave Bundesliga side Schalke this summer as his contract expires at the end of the season, with the uncapped German star rejecting any attempts to sign a new deal.

But the Reds could steal a march on their Premier League rivals after Bild claimed Meyer’s agent, Roger Wittmann, has connections with Liverpool. But the report does state that Wittmann is also close to Marseille and some Italian clubs.
Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp is renowned for bringing players to Anfield from the Bundesliga, and that German connection could also work in favour of landing Meyer.

Since taking over in 2015, Klopp has recruited Roberto Firmino, Joel Matip, Loris Karius, Ragnar Klavan and Alex Manninger from Germany’s top tier.
Renowned for being a playmaker in the number 10 role or even out wide, Meyer has added another string to his bow this season by playing in holding midfield for Schalke in a move that could prove beneficial to Liverpool.
