Everton may be pressing ahead with their bid for Celta Vigo’s Daniel Wass.
According to Spanish newspaper Marca, Everton, Roma and Valencia are all in the race to sign Celta Vigo midfielder Daniel Wass, with his agent negotiating a potential move.
Wass, 29, joined Celta Vigo from French side Evian Thonon-Gaillard in 2015, and he has racked up more than 100 appearances for the La Liga side in his three years there.
Predominantly a central midfielder who can also play at right back or on the right of midfield, Wass has been a proven performer for the Galician side, but he looks set to move on this summer.
With his contract expiring in 2019, Celta look set to cash in on Wass whilst they still can, and Spanish newspaper Marca report that Valencia are in the race, but his agent is thought to be negotiating with Everton and Roma.
Everton may be looking for a bargain move, and new director of football Marcel Brands looks to be pressing ahead with his attempts to bring the Dane to Goodison Park this summer.
Wass is versatile and composed on the ball, whilst he is a great set-piece taker and a hard worker, potentially making him an ideal partner for Idrissa Gueye in the heart of midfield.
Yet, with Roma and Valencia both having Champions League football on offer, it may be difficult for Everton to compete in some ways, though they may be able to offer greater wages.
With Celta looking to cash in before Wass leaves for free next year, Everton could land themselves a bargain – and whilst talks are ongoing, Brands faces a challenge beating the competition to his signature.
