According to TNT Sports, the agent of River Plate attacker Julio Alvarez is heading to England with a move to Aston Villa now a possibility.
Alvarez had quite the night on Saturday, as Argentina won Copa America by beating Brazil 1-0 in the final.
Alvarez wasn’t on the bench for last night’s game but has been a part of Argentina’s path to glory, featuring in the 4-1 win over Bolivia last month.
Lionel Messi may be a free agent as things stand, but 21-year-old Alvarez may be the one to earn a big move off the back of Argentina’s Copa America success.
It’s stated that Alvarez’s representative is travelling to England this week for talks over a transfer, with Aston Villa most likely to sign him.
Villa are ready to offer €10million (£8.5million) for Alvarez in the coming days, seeking to reunite him with Argentina teammate Emiliano Martinez.

Villa were linked with a £15million move by The Athletic last month, but are now seemingly trying to sign him in a much cheaper deal.
A product of River’s youth system, Alvarez has now notched 16 goals and 17 assists in 69 games for the Buenos Aires giants, and could make his big move.
This week promises to be a big one for Alvarez, who could be donning claret and blue in no time.
