Benfica are negotiating for a player in whom Southampton, Sheffield United and Brighton & Hove Albion are said to be interested, according to reports in Portugal.
La Voz linked the Almeria striker Darwin Nunez with moves to Sheffield United and Brighton earlier this month.
And it was claimed by Calciomercato on Monday that Southampton have offered £11 million for him.
But according to Record, Nunez’s agent has confirmed that conversations have now taken place between Benfica and Almeria, regarding the Uruguayan.
Nunez scored 16 goals in 30 games last season in Spain’s second tier, where Almeria will remain next term after they lost in the play-offs to Girona.
And it is being suggested that the Andalusian side want €20m (around £18m) to part with the 21-year-old.

As it stands though, there is no word of any formal offer being made by either Benfica, Sheffield United or Brighton, which leaves Southampton in the driving seat for now – assuming the above reports are accurate.
