Arsenal are now being linked with a move for Inter Milan midfielder Hakan Calhanoglu with a summer exit on the cards.

Inter Milan playmaker Hakan Calhanoglu is again being linked with a move to Arsenal during this summer’s transfer window.

That is according to Inter Live, who claim that Arsenal could launch a move to sign Calhanoglu.

It’s claimed that Premier League interest in Calhanoglu is mounting and Arsenal are considered to be a suitor.

The report notes that Granit Xhaka is set to leave for Bayer Leverkusen this summer and Arsenal are in the market for a midfielder.

Calhanoglu is thought to be a possibility with a price tag of around €35million to €40million (£30million to £34.5million).

Inter are pushing for Calhanoglu to sign a new deal until 2027, worth around €6million-a-year – or around £100,000-a-week.

The Turkish international is still expected to stay at the San Siro but Arsenal’s interest is causing some concern in Milan.

We can’t see Hakan Calhanoglu to Arsenal

Calhanoglu is one of those names that seems to be linked with Arsenal every few months.

Ever since being compared to Mesut Ozil by Winfried Schafer, it feels like Calhanoglu has been linked to Arsenal regularly.

Milan Live reported in 2021 that Arsenal held talks to sign Calhanoglu but he controversially traded AC Milan for Inter.

Links to Calhanoglu go back to the Arsene Wenger days but a deal has never happened – and we don’t think that is about to change.

Calhanoglu is now 29 and we have doubts over whether he really has the athleticism required to play in Arteta’s team.

Calhanoglu certainly isn’t a similar profile to Xhaka and target like Declan Rice or Moises Caicedo make more sense for Arsenal.

Inter and Calhanoglu are preparing for the Champions League final against Manchester City and whilst Arteta and co will pay attention to that game, we can’t imagine it’s because of Calhanoglu.
