Leeds United’s Cameron Borthwick-Jackson could be on the move this month.
According to the Daily Mail, Reading are interested in signing Cameron Borthwick-Jackson if he leaves Leeds United this month.
Manchester United defender Borthwick-Jackson, 20, has come up through the ranks with the Red Devils, having joined all the way back in 2003.
Once thought of as a potential star of the future, left back Borthwick-Jackson made 14 first-team appearances in the 2015-16 season, but has since endured struggles.
A loan move to Wolverhampton Wanderers last season saw him play just seven times, and he has fared even worse at Leeds this season, making just one Championship start under Thomas Christiansen.
Now, the Daily Mail report that Manchester United want Borthwick-Jackson to play more regularly in the second half of the season, and could terminate his Leeds loan deal to send him elsewhere.
It’s stated that Championship rivals Reading are now keen to land Borthwick-Jackson for the rest of the season, exploring a loan move with a view to a permanent deal.
Manager Jaap Stam wanted to sign Borthwick-Jackson over the summer, but he chose Leeds, in a decision which he may well regret, but should have a chance to rectify this month.
Given his lack of playing time, Leeds won’t miss Borthwick-Jackson if he does move on, and it may even free up room for the Whites to bring in another left back this month.
