Paulo Fonseca may have been snubbed by Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle United, but he is not giving up on becoming a manager in the Premier League.
Aston Villa are now Fonseca’s new target, according to a report.
What’s the story?
The Daily Record have claimed that Fonseca is keen on becoming the new manager of Villa.
The agents of the Portuguese boss have already contacted Villa to let them know that he is interested in succeeding Dean Smith.
The Telegraph reported over the weekend that the 48-year-old is a candidate for the Villa managerial role.
The Daily Record have claimed that Fonseca held talks with Newcastle, but the job at St. James’ Park eventually went to Eddie Howe.

The former Shakhtar Donetsk and AS Roma boss himself told The Telegraph in September 2021 that he held talks with Tottenham in the summer of 2021.
Spurs eventually went with Nuno, who has now been replaced by Antonio Conte.
Would Paulo Fonseca be good for Aston Villa?
Fonseca did relatively well at Roma, but his main success has been with Ukrainian giants Shakhtar.

The Portuguese, who is without a managerial job at the moment, won the league title three times with Shakhtar.
In total, Fonseca has won nine major trophies in his managerial career so far.
The 48-year-old is a very good manager who is still quite young, and he would not be a bad choice for Villa.
