According to The Telegraph, Newcastle United are now interested in taking Chelsea midfielder Ruben Loftus-Cheek on a season-long loan deal.
Manager Rafael Benitez will be frustrated by the lack of incoming this summer, given that the only deal Newcastle have completed was to sign loanee Christian Atsu on a permanent basis.

One target slipped the net in Chelsea striker Tammy Abraham, as the young striker has instead chosen to join Premier League rivals Swansea City on loan, as reported by The Guardian.
However, Newcastle may now be plotting a move for another Chelsea youngster, as The Telegraph report that the Magpies are keen to land midfielder Ruben Loftus-Cheek on loan for the season.
Loftus-Cheek, 21, has come up through the ranks at Stamford Bridge having joined the club at the age of eight – but he has struggled for first-team football with the Blues, like many youngsters have.
The England Under-21 international has made just 22 Premier League appearances in the last three years, and it’s imperative that he develops with first-team football, starting with a loan deal.

Newcastle are in the market for a central midfielder, and Loftus-Cheek may just fit the bill. Tall, strong and impressive on the ball, Loftus-Cheek could play as a box-to-box midfielder or in an attacking midfield role, giving Benitez versatility in the middle of the park.
However, it’s noted that Brighton and Hove Albion are also interested in landing Loftus-Cheek on loan, and Newcastle may have to move quickly in order to avoid another Abraham-like disappointment.
