Aston Villa will move to look at other targets after missing out on Callum Wilson, with Celtic’s Odsonne Edouard potentially in their sights, the Express & Star suggest.
Dean Smith is said to rate Edouard highly, but Villa are yet to firm up their interest in the Celtic man.
The claret and blues have made no approach to Celtic over signing the front man to date, but he could present an option to them in the coming weeks, as they continue their search for a new number nine.
Celtic are believed to have no intention of selling their main goalscorer, but the Bhoys have been forced into getting rid of key players before when Premier League clubs have come knocking.
If Villa don’t move for Edouard, who was hailed as ‘unbelievable’ by teammate James Forrest in the Daily Record recently, then Josh King is also touted as a potential option.
Whoever Villa end up going for, it seems almost certain that Smith will be getting a new forward this summer.
Wesley, Aly Samatta and Keinan Davis all struggled for goals last season and signing a new number nine seems to be the club’s priority now.
