According to Calciomercato, West Ham now face competition from Barcelona and AC Milan in the race to sign Jakub Kiwior.

West Ham must fend off Barcelona & AC Milan

Well, the Italian news outlet believe the east Londoners failed with a bid for the Poland international over the summer, and some of Europe’s elite have now muscled in.

Calciomercato believe Juventus and Roma are also keen to sign Kiwior along with Barcelona and AC Milan, with Spezia valuing the 22-year-old at €10m (£9m).

It is also said that AC Milan are ready to make their move for the centre-back.

However, Calciomercato concede that Juventus may have an ace up their sleeve in the form of Wojciech Szczesny.

The Poland international could potentially convince his international colleague to join him in Turin.

Spezia had told potential suitors over the summer that they had no need to sell, although the report states that their financial situation has now changed and a sale may be needed.

So far this season, Kiwior has made ten appearances in all competitions for Spezia.

West Ham may struggle as Barcelona & AC Milan enter race

In our view, West Ham will probably be kicking themselves that they didn’t offer closer to £9m during the summer transfer window.

Now, the competition for Kiwior has become seriously intense.

As good as the Hammers are nowadays under David Moyes, they are unable to match what Barcelona and AC Milan can offer the Pole from a competitive aspect.

Of course, the Irons can compete financially, but they will surely find it hard to convince Kiwior to ignore the bright lights of Champions League football in favour of a move to the London Stadium.

Having said that, Moyes has still managed to lure gems such as Gianluca Scamacca and Lucas Paqueta to West Ham, so they are certainly in with a shot of signing Kiwior.
