Manchester United are the latest club to be linked with Yerry Mina.

According to RMC Sport in France, Barcelona defender Yerry Mina has had contact with Everton, but Manchester United could make their own move for him this week.

Mina, 23, starred in Brazil with Palmeiras, and his promising displays in South America earned him a big move to Barcelona in January – but he failed to impress at the Camp Nou.

The 6ft 5in defender excelled at the World Cup with three goals in three games for Colombia, but having shown some raw defending again, Barcelona decided to sign Sevilla’s Clement Lenglet, adding another centre back.

Mina is now fourth or even fifth in the pecking order at Barcelona, and a move is widely expected having shown his aerial dominance for Colombia this summer.

RMC Sport report that Mina has had contact with Everton about a move to Goodison Park, but the Toffees could be hijacked as Manchester United are considering their own move this week.

Mina’s youth and physical prowess would make him a sensible partner for Michael Keane in the Everton defence, with a younger defender needed given that Ashley Williams and Phil Jagielka are both over 30.

Yet with United now seemingly weighing up a move, Mina could hold out to see what the Red Devils have to say, with Champions League football on offer at Old Trafford.

United have a whole host of centre backs, such as Chris Smalling, Phil Jones, Eric Bailly, Victor Lindelof and Marcos Rojo, but Mina could now be an option for Jose Mourinho – and a move from United could arrive in the coming days.
