Tottenham look to have lost to Arsenal twice in one week.
They were defeated in the north London derby on Sunday, and now they have seemingly lost the race for Leandro Trossard.
Indeed, according to Fabrizio Romano, the Gunners are closing in on signing Trossard, and that means that Spurs have missed out on the Belgian after making a bid for the Brighton star.
However, it’s onwards and upwards for Spurs, and according to Sky Sports, they’ve already moved onto their next target.
Indeed, Sky report that Spurs have made an offer for Nicolo Zaniolo, and they reportedly see the Italian as their Trossard alternative.
As backup plans go, this really isn’t a bad one.

Zaniolo is truly a very talented footballer, and while he’s not been at his best since returning from injury. The 23-year-old still has bags of ability.
Unfortunately, Spurs do have some work to do on this deal. Their initial approach for the player has been knocked back, but the good news is that Roma are willing to talk about a deal.
This is a player Antonio Conte has wanted for quite some time now. He was strongly linked with Tottenham throughout the summer transfer window, and while a deal wasn’t possible at that time, a January move could be on the cards.
Whether or not that’s a permanent deal or a loan with an option to buy remains to be seen, but Spurs do have options on the table here.
It’s interesting to hear that Tottenham view Zaniolo as their Trossard alternative. Back in the summer when they were linked with this player it was reported that they saw him as an option at wing-back, while Trossard is a winger.
Conte seemingly has a plan for Zaniolo, and this transfer looks like it’s one that could move quickly before the end of the transfer window.
