According to Goal, West Ham are now interested in bringing Leeds and Everton target Arnaud Kalimuendo to the Premier League.
What’s the story?
Well, the 20-year-old has attracted the attention of David Moyes, Jesse Marsch and Frank Lampard after an impressive season on loan at RC Lens last term.
Kalimuendo scored 13 goals in 38 appearances, and he has continued his fine form with two goals in three pre-season outings alongside the likes of Lionel Messi, Neymar and Kylian Mbappe.
It is said that Leeds have already submitted a £20m bid, while Everton have also been in contact with Paris Saint-Germain over a deal for the France Under-21 international.
Now, West Ham have gatecrashed the party.
Goal believe Moyes wants another striker despite the £35.5m signing of Gianluca Scamacca from Sassuolo.
Rennes are also interested in Kalimuendo – who has been describe as a “complete” striker – while OGC Nice are keen as well.
West Ham & Everton must outbid Leeds
Leeds are yet to hear back from PSG about their £20m offer, so we presume it isn’t high enough.
Therefore, if West Ham and Everton come in with bids in the region of £25m, it will surely get the ball rolling.
There is one positive for the Premier League trio.
Goal believe that PSG are planning to sell Kalimuendo, as they are keen to cash in on him while his market value is high.
Aside from agreeing a fee with PSG, there lies a task in convincing the striker to join.
West Ham may struggle to convince Kalimuendo he will be a regular starter after Scamacca was signed, but Everton won’t have such an issue after losing Richarlison to Tottenham.
Leeds probably won’t either, as Patrick Bamford has struggled to stay fit under Marsch so far.
