According to the Daily Mail, Adrian has now decided to stay put with Liverpool into next season.

It’s claimed that Adrian is ‘close’ to agreeing terms on a contract extension at Anfield with his current deal set to expire at the end of the month.

The report notes that Liverpool had actually started speaking to potential replacements for Adrian, seemingly believing that he would be moving on.

Adrian’s former club Real Betis were interested in re-signing him on a free transfer, but he is now set to stay at Anfield after all.

The report adds that Caoimhin Kelleher is likely to be loaned out with Adrian now staying on, whilst Loris Karius is wanted by Stuttgart.

Adrian was second-choice to Alisson before Kelleher started to emerge, but the Spaniard is seemingly viewed as important cover heading into next season.

The 34-year-old may only get another year with Liverpool, but that extra year may just allow Kelleher to go out and play valuable first-team football before coming back when Adrian’s deal ends.

Branded ‘pure class’ by Jurgen Klopp in March, Adrian is clearly valued by the Liverpool boss, and now looks set to stay with him for at least another year.
