According to Le 11 Amienois, Liverpool left back Adam Lewis will be sent back to the Reds from his loan spell at Amiens.

It’s claimed that Lewis will have his loan spell terminated imminently, with Jack Lahne also set to leave the club.

Lewis was allegedly ‘never able to convince’ with Amiens, and has struggled for playing time under Oswald Tanchot following his appointment as manager in October.

Lewis, 21, managed just nine Ligue 2 appearances for Amiens, and the plan for him to play regular first-team football has somewhat backfired.

The left back will turn 22 this year, and Liverpool will soon have to make a decision on whether they feel Lewis can make the step up in the future.

Struggling for game time in France’s second division and then being sent back to Liverpool doesn’t exactly bode well, and another loan spell for the second half of the season seems likely.

Steven Gerrard raved about Lewis back in 2017, suggesting that he had never seen somebody as good going forward than him at that age.

Maybe Gerrard could look to lure him to Rangers at some point, but Liverpool will now have to pick his next destination very carefully after his disappointing spell in France.
