Leeds United midfielder Mateusz Klich has made just five Championship appearances this season.

According to a report in the Yorkshire Evening Post, Leeds United are trying to sign Adam Forshaw from Middlesbrough, and the midfielder’s arrival could cause Mateusz Klich to depart.

Leeds are said to be willing to pay £2.5 million for Forshaw, who they have identified as a player who could improve Thomas Christiansen’s squad.

If Forshaw does arrive, Leeds could make room for the Middlesbrough man by offloading Klich.

Klich only joined Leeds last summer, but he has struggled for appearances for the Whites.

The Polish international has played just five times for Leeds in the Championship, and has failed to hold down a first-team place.

Klich now has interest from a range of clubs across Europe, and if Leeds can snap up Forshaw, they will feel confident that they have enough cover in midfield to cope with the loss of the former FC Twente man.
