As per a report by Corriere dello Sport, AC Milan will keep a close eye on Pape Matar Sarr’s performances at the upcoming World Cup with the view of signing him in January.

Signed from Metz for £14.6 million (Sky Sports) last summer, the Senegalese midfielder was loaned back to his former club for the remainder of the season.

However, Antonio Conte told SpursTV that the 20-year-old was a “really good prospect” after his side’s 2-2 draw against Chelsea this season.

The Italian manager’s claim excited several Tottenham fans about the possibility of the highly-rated midfielder becoming a part of the first-team at some point in the ongoing campaign.

However, the youngster is yet to play a single minute of senior football for the Lilywhites this season, and has only made a mere two appearances in the Premier League 2 as well so far.

While starting 22 games on loan in Ligue 1 last season, many have stated that Matar Sarr did not have the best time out in France, which could open the door for a possible exit.

A win-win situation for Tottenham

While only time will tell whether AC Milan are impressed by Pape Matar Sarr in Qatar, Tottenham remain the ultimate victors from however he ends up performing.

If the starlet impresses, Spurs could well keep him at the club, as his potential may have finally been unleashed.

Or, the North Londoners could sell a relatively unproven commodity at the highest level at a premium price, as is custom with any player that shines at the World Cup.
