According to the Telegraph, AC Milan were very impressed with West Ham target Ruben Loftus-Cheek as Chelsea defeated the Italian giants in the Champions League.
West Ham target Loftus-Cheek dazzles AC Milan
Well, the Telegraph believe AC Milan explored a move for the England international before the September 1st deadline, while it was talkSPORT who revealed that West Ham are keen.
The report states that officials from AC Milan spoke very highly of Loftus-Cheek’s display in their 3-0 defeat to Chelsea at Stamford Bridge last week, when meeting up with Todd Boehly at the Mayfair private members club Annabel’s after the game.
AC Milan are aware that the 26-year-old will be entering the final 12 months of his contract at the end of the campaign, and could make a move for his signature if he keeps impressing.
Loftus-Cheek has enjoyed a resurgence in west London this season, with the Telegraph claiming that he could even force his way into Gareth Southgate’s World Cup squad.
The Chelsea No.12 was part of the England squad for the 2018 World Cup in Russia, but has rarely featured for the Three Lions since.
West Ham have chance to beat AC Milan
Interestingly, the Telegraph point out that those who have not been vaccinated against COVID-19 are unable to play in Serie A.
According to the Guardian, Loftus-Cheek is not double vaccinated, hence why he and N’Golo Kante were unable to take part in the pre-season trip to America.
Serie A could still perform a U-turn on their stance, but in the meantime, West Ham have a chance to beat AC Milan to the England international as the Italian giants are literally not allowed to bring him to the San Siro.
If David Moyes choose to wait, he risks allowing AC Milan back into the race should Serie A decide to change their stance on COVID-19 regulations. Only time will tell what happens.
