According to The Scottish Sun, Aberdeen are looking to sign Hibernian midfielder Jackson Irvine and reunite him with Scott Brown.
It’s claimed that Hibernian intend to hold talks with Irvine over a new contract to stay at Easter Road.
However, Aberdeen have now come forward as real contenders for Irvine’s signature as they look to overhaul the squad under new boss Stephen Glass.
Irvine only joined Hibs in January having spent the first half of the season as a free agent having been released by Hull City last summer.
The Australian has registered two assists in 10 league games for Hibs, and Aberdeen have seemingly seen enough to pursue a deal.
Irvine knows Scott Brown well from their time at Celtic together, and could reunite in Aberdeen’s midfield next season.

Brown should be able to provide an insight into what Irvine is like as a character as well as a player, even if Irvine only played once for Celtic’s first team.
With Brown and Declan Gallagher already on board and Jay Emmanuel-Thomas set to join too, Australian international Irvine could join a real squad revolution at Pittodrie.
