According to The Scottish Sun, Rangers are hatching their plan to sign Scott Wright – and Aberdeen now expect a move to happen.
Rumours emerged on Monday that Rangers are looking at Wright with a view to bringing him to Ibrox, given that he is inside the final six months of his contract.
This report now updates the situation, stating that Aberdeen expect Rangers to sign Wright to a pre-contract agreement this month.
They then think Rangers will try to sign Wright on the cheap in this window off the back of that pre-contract agreement, leveraging that they will get him for free anyway.
Rangers pulled off a similar move in January 2019, signing Glen Kamara to a pre-contract agreement before then raiding Dundee to sign him permanently.
Steven Gerrard is thought to be a fan of Wright, and Aberdeen have seemingly already resigned themselves to losing the winger this monh.

Wright, 23, has hit two goals and five assists in 16 games this season, often causing problems with his pace and dribbling ability.
He’ll count as a homegrown player in Europe, which gives him an advantage over Brandon Barker and Jordan Jones moving forward, and may well be why Gerrard and Rangers are so keen to add him.
