Arsenal goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale has allegedly told friends that he thinks he will start the next Premier League game against Norwich City.

That’s according to The Sun, who claim that Ramsdale believes he will now be given the nod ahead of Bernd Leno at the Emirates Stadium.

Leno was in goal for Arsenal’s 5-0 thumping at Manchester City before the international break, and questions surround his future.

The German is out of contract at the end of the season and is seemingly planning to leave the club on a free transfer.

Arsenal have just spent big money on signing Ramsdale from Sheffield United, seemingly viewing him as real competition for Leno.

Yet with Leno planning an escape, Arsenal could now turn to Ramsdale, accelerating their plans to make him their number one after Leno.

The report adds that some of the add-ons involved in the deal could kick in as soon as Ramsdale starts playing for Arsenal in the Premier League.

This would be quite the gamble from Mikel Arteta. Ramsdale has successive Premier League relegations on his CV with Bournemouth and Sheffield United, and has just one Arsenal appearance to his name.

Benching Leno would also be a pretty clear indication that he is leaving the club, giving Ramsdale a major vote of confidence just weeks into his Arsenal career.
