A fee has been struck and the winger has agreed personal terms ahead of his move to Turf Moor.
Aaron Lennon’s proposed move from Everton to Burnley is being held up by complications regarding his contract, according to The Mirror.
The Mirror reported in their live transfer blog at 2.13pm on Monday that there are two issues which need to be resolved before he can undergo a medical and the deal can be finalised.
Lennon has agreed his wage package at Turf Moor after Burnley settled on a nominal fee with Everton for the 30-year-old winger, who has 342 Premier League appearances under his belt.
There is little need for Burnley to panic over the delay to Lennon’s arrival as they are not in action again until they travel to Newcastle United on January 31.
Theo Walcott’s arrival at Goodison Park has left Lennon surplus to requirements, but his pace and experience will be valuable to a Burnley squad who are suffering through a mid-season slump.
The Clarets have gone seven league matches without a win, although they remain in the top half of the table after an outstanding start to the season under Sean Dyche.
Lennon has played 77 times for Everton since joining in 2015 from Tottenham Hotspur, where he spent the best years of his career with 30 goals and 77 assists in 364 appearances.
The 21-times capped England international would become Burnley’s second signing of the January window after they loaned Georges-Kevin Nkoudou, also a speedy winger, from Spurs.
