According to Mundo Deportivo, Clement Lenglet is close to agreeing a move to Tottenham, after Xavi told him to leave Barcelona.
What’s the story?
Well, Antonio Conte is in need of another central defender, and the Italian now seems close to signing one.
Mundo Deportivo believe Xavi has told Lenglet to find a new club, and with Spurs keen to not waste their time, they have been pushing the France international to make a decision.
Now, the £97,000-a-week man looks set to join Tottenham, after the north Londoners told him to make a decision this week, or else they would move on to other targets.
Lenglet found opportunities hard to come by after Xavi replaced Ronald Koeman midway through last season, with the 27-year-old making just seven starts in La Liga.
Barcelona are also in a difficult financial position, so they are keen to offload the Frenchman’s salary from their wage bill.
Tottenham have alternatives to Clement Lenglet

If Lenglet fails to give Spurs a definitive answer by the end of the week, it seems the north Londoners will look elsewhere.
Fortunately, Conte and Fabio Paratici haven’t put all of their eggs into one basket, as there are other options.
One of these alternatives is Torino colossus Gleison Bremer, although Chelsea are also keen on the Brazilian titan who was named Serie A Defender of the Year for his efforts last season.

Spurs have also been credited with an interest in Alessandro Bastoni, a player who worked with Conte at Inter Milan.
Interestingly, Tottenham scouts believe Bremer is better than Bastoni, so if a deal for Lenglet collapses, we believe the South American will be targeted before the Italian.
Be sure to keep an eye on the situation, as we’d be very surprised if Tottenham fail to sign at least one new centre-back this summer.
