Whisper it, but Liverpool signing Jadon Sancho might not be completely dead after all.
The Borussia Dortmund winger has been heavily linked with a move to Liverpool in the past.
But for the part four or five months, much of the speculation had centered around him joining Chelsea or Manchester United.
In recent weeks, it’s the latter who appeared most likely to sign the England international, but a report from Kicker in Germany indicates he might not be up for it.
According to that publication, Sancho would prefer to join Liverpool over the Red Devils because of the greater chance of lifting the Premier League title.
The report adds that a firm decision on his future will need to be made by August 10, when Dortmund begin pre-season training in Switzerland.
But can Liverpool afford him?
Bild reported in June that the Bundesliga giants would take £90 million for their prized asset, a reduction on the £115 million that they previously wanted.
But considering the Anfield club had to drop out of the race to sign Timo Werner – who joined Chelsea for £47.5 million – it’s doubtful they’ll be able to spend twice that figure on bringing the former Manchester City youth to Merseyside.
