Andre Ayew’s £90,000-a-week wages are threatening to leave the West Bromwich Albion target stuck in the Championship with Swansea City for another season, according to The Sun (15 October, page 53).

Either way, with a pay packet that would make many a Premier League player green with envy and an impressive reputation at the top level of European football, the fact Ayew is still a Swansea player feels like something of a minor miracle.
A former Marseille star with 90 caps for the Ghana national team under his belt, Ayew has understandably looked a cut above in the Championship.
It was his inspirational performances, not to mention those 16 goals and seven assists, which transformed a youthful Swans side into genuine promotion challengers last term.
And if Steve Cooper is hoping to go one better in 2020/21, he will be desperate to see the diminutive string-puller stay at the Liberty Stadium beyond Friday’s transfer deadline.
Brighton and Hove Albion are interested, as are a West Brom side whose manager, Slaven Bilic, worked with Ayew for a brief spell at West Ham United (the Daily Mail).
But unless he is willing to take a substantial pay cut, the £90,000-a-week attacker looks destined for another few months looking like the proverbial big kid in the playground.
