Huddersfield Town defender Terence Kongolo is still hoping to complete a move to Premier League strugglers Sheffield United before next Friday’s transfer deadline, according to the Star.
A broken foot ruined the defender’s ill-fated loan spell at Fulham in the second half of last season and it seems that very same problem is also standing in his way of a return to the top-flight of English football.
Kongolo might have already been a Sheffield United player if it wasn’t for an injury which has some at Bramall Lane wondering whether he is worth the risk at £8 million.
The Star claims that the Holland international, however, is still determined to prove his fitness to the Blades board with just a week remaining until the transfer window shuts for good until the New Year.
It is no secret that Chris Wilder wants a left-sided central defender after Jack O’Connell was ruled out for the long-term.

And one-time Feyenoord star Kongolo ticks a lot of boxes, not least because the impressive passing skills he honed in the Eredivisie would give Sheffield United the outlet they have been lacking on the left since O’Connell’s injury.
A man who shone during Holland’s run to the 2014 World Cup semi-final can also fill in at left-back.
Sheffield United are also interested in Preston North End’s Ben Davies but, according to the Sun (5 September, page 59) they won’t pay £10 million for a defender due to become a free agent next summer.
