According to Inter Live, Arturo Vidal is now tempted to join Antonio Conte at Tottenham, with Spurs interested in signing the Inter Milan maestro.

What’s the story?

Well, this is big news for Tottenham, if true.

Conte has previously worked with the £86,000-a-week man at Juventus and Inter Milan, so they know each other well.

Inter Live believe Vidal is certain to leave the San Siro when his contract expires in June, and it seems a move to Spurs is on the cards.

Inter Milan have the option to extend the 34-year-old’s deal by another year, although it sounds as if that won’t be happening.

So far this season, the 131-cap Chile international has made just one start in Serie A, as he struggles for playing time under Simone Inzaghi.

Vidal has, however, still managed to score two goals and record four assists in all competitions, which is a respectable amount of goal involvements.

Tottenham must sign Arturo Vidal

In our view, this deal has to happen.

It may sound somewhat underwhelming to sign a 34-year-old who is past his prime, although Conte desperately needs leaders and winners in his squad.

Last night’s collapse against Southampton proved that there is a mentality issue at Tottenham – there aren’t enough senior players who know how to see out a victory.

In Vidal’s case, the South American has won a remarkable 22 trophies throughout his career, so he knows what it takes to succeed.

Having made 141 appearances under Conte during his playing career, this would be a very shrewd free transfer for Tottenham.
