It looks like Matteo Guendouzi may finally be leaving Arsenal.
Guendouzi has just spent the 2020-21 campaign on loan with Hertha Berlin in Germany after falling out with Gunners boss Mikel Arteta.
According to The Sun, the Arsenal manager and the 22-year-old had a ‘shouting match’ last year in an event which ultimately led to a breakdown in relationship between the pair.
The decision to loan him to Germany was a big indication that the French midfielder had no future at the Emirates Stadium under the Spanish coach.
Marseille have been heavily linked with a permanent move for Guendouzi in recent days.
And L’Equipe reported on Saturday evening that the player has now agreed to join the Ligue 1 outfit this summer.
For the best?
If true then yes, an exit is best for all parties.
Guendouzi, who joined the club for £7 million three years ago, is undeniably a talented player but if Arteta feels that he has attitude issues then severing ties is definitely the smart move here.
Some Arsenal fans will be sad to see him go because, as mentioned, this is a talented lad, but he does have a habit of making headlines for the wrong reasons – like his argument with Neal Maupay 12 months ago – and if Arteta believes the club is better off without an influence like this, it has to be respected.
