Yannick Bolasie is set to miss out on the chance to escape Everton today with a loan move to Middlesbrough unlikely to be completed before the 5:00pm deadline, according to the Liverpool Echo.

Boro, it seems, have left it too late.

It hardly needs saying that Bolasie, the £75,000-a-week, £28 million forgotten man, is not part of Carlo Ancelotti’s plans at Goodison Park (Spotrac).

But despite interest from the North East, signs suggest that the Congo international will be stuck at Finch Farm until January at the earliest.

The Echo suggests there is little confidence that an agreement can be reached between Everton and Middlesbrough due to a number of complex factors; such as how to balance Bolasie’s staggering pay-packet.

A man who has spent time on loan at Aston Villa, Anderlecht and Sporting Lisbon in the last two years will become a free agent next summer too.

There is a very real chance that Everton will see one of the most expensive signings in their history leave Goodison Park for absolutely nothing.

At this point, it is surely worth considering whether the Premier League pacesetters would simply be better off terminating a contract which sets them back nearly £4 million a year and cutting Bolasie free.
