According to The Sun, Middlesbrough are interested in signing Yannick Bolasie from Everton in the January transfer window.

Neil Warnock, who managed the DR Congo international at Crystal Palace, is keen on a reunion with the flamboyant attacker.

A move could potentially happen in weeks, as the 72-year-old wants to get his targets to the Riverside Stadium early, rather than leave it to the end of the window.

Bolasie – who earns £75,000-a-week at Goodison Park – nearly joined Boro in the summer as The Sun state, although the deal collapsed in the final moments.

The former Bristol City winger was left out of Carlo Ancelotti’s Premier League squad, and he is yet to make a single appearance this season in any competition, at any age group.

Bolasie joined Everton from Crystal Palace in the summer of 2016 in a deal worth £25 million, having just helped the Eagles to an FA Cup final.

After some early promise – he scored once and assisted four goals in his first nine games – a terrible knee injury stunted his progress.

Things have gone downhill since.

Loan moves to Aston Villa, Anderlecht and Sporting Lisbon haven’t resulted in a permanent exit from Everton, and Ancelotti seemingly has no use for him on Merseyside.
