According to the Liverpool Echo, Jean-Philippe Gbamin could now leave Everton this month, with CSKA Moscow interested in signing him.

What’s the story?

Well, the transfer window is now closed for Everton, but over in Russia, it is still open until February 22nd.

With just days to go, CSKA Moscow have identified Gbamin as a target, and are keen to sign the £25m man on loan until the end of the season.

Everton’s stance is not made clear, although the £75,000-a-week man isn’t exactly a key player at Goodison Park.

Therefore, the Toffees could be open to getting him off the wage bill.

So far this season, Gbamin has made just three Premier League appearances, amounting to a total of 64 minutes.

As has often been the case since his move from Mainz, the Ivory Coast international has – once again – struggled with injuries this term.

Everton must offload Jean-Philippe Gbamin

In our view, Everton need to start thinking about cashing in on Gbamin.

The Ivorian’s contract expires in June 2024, so the Toffees still have time to loan him out, where he will hopefully succeed and entice someone to sign him permanently.

If things stay the same, Everton are going to lose their £25m asset for nothing in 2024, so it’s vital for them to find a good loan move for Gbamin.

Should they find one, then hopefully the 26-year-old will rebuild his reputation, and Everton can make a bit of money back.

Keep an eye on this saga – it will be interesting to see if Lampard weakens his squad with no way of signing a replacement.
