Well, it was fun while it lasted for Tottenham Hotspur and Jules Kounde.
Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio revealed in June that the Sevilla centre-back was Spurs’ number one transfer target this summer.
The French centre-back looks a bonafide star in the making and has been linked with the likes of Manchester City and Real Madrid.
And unfortunately for Tottenham, it appears as if the player himself has no intention of moving to North London.
According to El Desmarque, the 22-year-old isn’t convinced by the Lilywhites – who have reached out – in the belief that they’re a ‘second-tier club’.
Was he ever a possibility?
Not really, no.
According to La Colina de Nervion, the Spanish side are looking for around £70 million for the player, which seems impossible for Tottenham if they want to keep Harry Kane.
If they sell the Manchester City-linked hitman, Daniel Levy and Fabio Paratici would have more than enough to sign Kounde.
Well, in theory.
Let’s not forget that the North Londoners don’t have the Champions League to offer the player, or the Europa League. Instead, Spurs, who finished seventh in the Premier League for a second year in a row this past season, only have the Europa Conference League to attract big players and, well, that just isn’t going to cut it.
