Sunderland’s Jack Rodwell is expected to move on this month.

According to The Mirror, Sunderland outcast Jack Rodwell is considering moving abroad to play first-team football despite links with Celtic.
Rodwell, 26, was once billed as one of the country’s top young talents after coming through the ranks with Everton, racking up over 100 appearances for the Toffees before making a big-money move to Manchester City in 2012.
The midfielder suffered a complete lack of form, fitness, confidence and playing time with City, fading into the background as he made just 25 appearances in all competitions before heading to Sunderland in 2014.

Rodwell’s demise has continued in the North East, as injuries have again haunted him, and he has been completely out of favour this term, notching just 104 minutes of league action across only two appearances.
Now, The Mirror report that Rodwell could be on his way out of the Stadium of Light as Sunderland attempt to offload him and his £70,000-a-week wages this month, possibly tearing up his contract.
It’s now claimed that Rodwell may even leave the United Kingdom in order to play first-team football, with a move abroad now thought to be in his thoughts if possible.

The Sunderland Echo recently reported that Celtic are interested in signing Rodwell if he does leave his Sunderland contract, with Brendan Rodgers seemingly interested in resurrecting his career.
However, Rodwell’s alleged desire to test himself abroad may just be a dent to Celtic’s hopes of a deal, with the midfielder’s future expected to be cleared up this month.
