According to Goal, Real Madrid’s Raphaël Varane is now considering his future at the Santiago Bernabeu, following talk of a move to Liverpool.
Diario Madridista revealed that Jürgen Klopp’s side are keen to sign the 70-cap France international, who lifted the World Cup in 2018.
Now, Goal have learned that he’s thinking about parting ways with the Spanish champions in search of a new challenge.
Goal add that Zinedine Zidane’s side are in the uncomfortable position of potentially having to sell a major asset this summer.
With Varane’s contract set to expire in June 2022, he could potentially be the sacrificial lamb, or else Real Madrid risk losing him for nothing next year.

However, Goal add that Manchester United are also extremely keen on the 27-year-old, and have made contact with his agent in the past.
In that respect, Liverpool might have to swat away interest from one of their arch-rivals to land the world-class Frenchman.
Varane has made 33 appearances in all competitions this season – scoring two goals – and is widely regarded as one of Europe’s best centre-backs.

What a way it would be for Liverpool to respond to their centre-back woes by securing the services of a player such as the Lille-born colossus.
In our view, a pairing of Virgil van Dijk and Varane simply isn’t fair – opposition attackers may as well go home before the game has even started.
