A teenage winger Liverpool had watched on four occasions is set to join Manchester City, according to Mozzart Sport.
The Serbian website lists Liverpool as one of several major European sides who have shown an interest in Filip Stevanovic.
But it also claims that Stevanovic, who plays for FK Partizan, had a medical in Belgrade on Friday under Manchester City’s instruction.
It adds that, barring any unexpected findings, the 18-year-old talent will sign a four-and-a-half year deal with the Premier League runners up, which will commence in January.
Partizan are already said to have accepted City’s offer, the amount of which remains unclear.
A fee of €8 million (around £7.3m) was however mentioned before the close of the summer transfer window.
Stevanovic, who was likened to Cristiano Ronaldo when Liverpool were listed as suitors earlier this year, has already played 39 times for Partizan and scored or assisted 15 goals.
He is due to return to the club whose academy system he progressed through on loan until the summer, according to Mozzart Sport.
Liverpool are currently three points clear of 11th-placed Manchester City in third, although they have played a game more than Pep Guardiola’s side.
