Lazio are already planning to sign Wesley Hoedt on a permanent basis in January with the Southampton loanee rebuilding his reputation at the Serie A giants, as reported by La Lazio Siamo Noi.
Like Mario Lemina, Guido Carillo and Sofiane Boufal, the Dutch defender was another big-money man crying out for a fresh start away from St Mary’s.
Hoedt, a £15 million signing in 2017, fell out of favour under Ralph Hasenhuttl and failed to make a single Premier League appearance once the Austrian replaced Mark Hughes at the helm two years ago.
After loan spells at Celta Vigo and Royal Antwerp, Hoedt was offered the chance to return to where it all began over the summer when Lazio, the club who sold him to the Saints in the first place, came calling again.
While Hoedt is far from a regular in Serie A, failing to start any of the last four fixtures, he has obviously done enough to earn Simone Inzaghi’s trust.
La Lazio Siamo Noi claim that the Scudetto dark horses are keen to turn Hoedt’s loan deal into a permanent transfer when the January transfer window opens in three weeks.
Voetbal International reported over the summer that Southampton valued Hoedt at £6 million.
