We haven’t heard much about Liverpool signing Diego Carlos in recent months.
ABC in Spain reported earlier this summer that the Premier League champions wanted to bring the Sevilla centre-back to Anfield in time for next season.
But there’s been little to no follow-up talk about it, though Liverpool could be prompted into action if a new report is accurate.
According to The Telegraph, the Spanish club value the 27-year-old powerhouse at £68 million – but they’re willing to accept £54 million to secure a transfer fee.
The report adds that Arsenal are also interested, but that the Gunners won’t be able to afford even the reduced rate.
Manchester City have previously been linked, and they would represent serious competition for Liverpool given their spending power.
But the Citizens are set to sign Bournemouth centre-back Nathan Ake and that could indicate they’re not in the running to sign Carlos.
If Liverpool were genuinely interested earlier this summer, there’s a number of really good reasons for that still to be the case.
