According to 90min, Juventus have been offered the chance to sign Liverpool target Frenkie de Jong, which could help Arsenal.

What’s the story?

Well, this is a very interesting update, one which could spell bad news for Liverpool, but good news for Arsenal.

Should Juventus take up the offer of De Jong – who SPORT claimed is a target for Liverpool – it will then allow Arthur to leave Turin.

If you hadn’t already heard, the Gunners are trying to sign the Brazilian this month, but Juventus – who sit fifth in Serie A – want a replacement before letting him go.

That was covered by the Mirror, and seems to be the main stumbling block in Arsenal’s pursuit of the €82m (£69m) maestro.

However, the move should progress significantly if De Jong – who Barcelona paid €75m (£63m) for – is willing to swap the Camp Nou for the Allianz Stadium.

90min believe Xavi has decided to offload the Netherlands international, along with Sergino Dest and Marc-Andre ter Stegen, due to a string of underwhelming displays.

Liverpool loss is Arsenal gain

It would be a shame for the Reds to lose out on De Jong, as he’s a fine footballer who looked set for greatness after rising to fame at Ajax.

However, it would certainly heal Arsenal’s wounds after last night’s Carabao Cup semi-final if they get Arthur at the expense of Liverpool signing the 24-year-old.

It would also add another interesting dimension to the recent bad blood between the two Premier League giants.

After Liverpool ensured the first leg of the Carabao Cup semi-final was postponed, Arsenal fans were heavily critical.

It has since come out – thanks to The Athletic – that Liverpool actually requested the postponement before receiving the results of their PCR tests.

Therefore, if Arsenal end up signing Arthur while Liverpool watch a target of theirs join Juventus, it would be revenge for the Gunners after last night.
