Rafael Benitez’s chances of becoming Everton’s next manager are increasing, according to TalkSPORT’s latest update.

Everton have been looking for a new manager for some time since Carlo Ancelotti’s unexpected departure.

The duration of their hunt is said to have shocked many on the board at Everton, who were hoping to have a new manager in place by now.

The Toffees have faced another delay in recent weeks, as talks with Nuno have now stalled.

That has led to Benitez apparently being put back on to Everton’s wishlist.

Everton owner Farhad Moshiri is now apparently willing to appoint the Spaniard, despite his Liverpool connections.

Controversial pick

Benitez, who has racked up 168 Premier League wins over the course of his career, would certainly be a controversial choice if he was to arrive at Goodison Park.

His past comments about Everton still aggravate some fans.

However, in terms of calibre of manager, there are few better options on the market.

Benitez has won the Champions League, and managed some of the biggest clubs across Europe.

But he would surely have to make a fast start to win over a fan-base, who would not be entirely unified over his appointment.
