A reported Arsenal target has reportedly been placed on the transfer list by his club.
According to El Gol Digital, Arsenal are interested in signing Sevilla centre-back Jules Kounde.
The big French defender is gearing up to represent his country at Euro 2020.
Mundo Deportivo in Spain has now reported that the La Liga club have placed the 22-year-old up for sale – but he won’t come cheap.
The report adds that Kounde could be available for as much as £60 million.
There’s a potential boost for Arsenal – if they’re genuinely keen – because Mundo suggests that Barcelona will struggle to bring the player to Camp Nou.
And if a club like that is out of the equation, it certainly benefits other reported suitors.
No European football
Kounde is a Champions League-grade player.
And the fact that Arsenal won’t even have Europa League football next season doesn’t do their chances much good, it has to be said.
Having said that, the North Londoners didn’t have Champions League football to offer Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Alexandre Lacazette or Nicolas Pepe when all three arrived in England.
They were enamoured by the project and if Arsenal’s hierarchy can convince Kounde that they’re a sleeping giant on the verge of wakefulness then that may appeal to him.
