The Athletic claim that Everton striker Dom Calvert-Lewin would be open to joining Arsenal – as the Gunners push to sign a striker before the end of the January window. It is believed a fee of £60million would be enough.

Everton are without a manager and the club’s hierarchy are currently focused on replacing Rafa Benitez. Duncan Ferguson is currently in caretaker charge, but the manager search is certainly Everton’s priority.

So, a move to sanction Calvert-Lewin and the need to replace him is hardly going to be at the forefront of Everton’s mind. However, The Athletic state Arsenal are pushing to sign a striker before the end of the January deadline.

The report also states a fee of £60million has been touted for Calvert-Lewin – and that the player would be open to leaving the Toffees for Arsenal. The England ace is fit again, with a toe injury limiting him to just six games.

Calvert-Lewin to Arsenal: Could Everton star really leave now?

It would be a stunning move and Arsenal certainly need a striker. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s time at Arsenal looks like it is about to come to an end. Eddie Nketiah and Alexandre Lacazette are out of contract in June.

Folarin Balogun is out on loan at Middlesbrough – and there are question marks surrounding whether he is good enough for Arsenal. So, a new striker is needed – and there is a chance of a January addition.

Could Calvert-Lewin join Arsenal this month? Well, as stated, Everton’s manager search is going to be a priority for the Toffees. But £60million will surely tempt the Merseyside club.
